Little Helpers

Well, going to the grocery store with kids (no matter what age) is always an adventure.  Sometimes I leave the grocery telling myself, "Hey, I can do this, no big deal."  Other times, I leave the store telling myself, "I am never bringing them again.  I am going by myself from now on."  On top of that, I leave the store frazzled and no matter what I am wearing I am sweating!  I thought I remembered to put deoderant on today!  Yep, I did!!

Doesn't every Mom just LOVE these carts!  They are so easy to steer around the aisles and you can fit a car seat in there with no problem!  Ha!  Yeah right!!

Today was a good day at the store though.  Abigail, my 3 year old, is into pushing her own shopping cart and "helping".  Don't get me wrong, I love LOVE her "helping", but her "helping" tends to show on my receipt when I start checking out!  She "helped" me get some chocolate fudge pudding, cookies, Danimals yogurt, donuts, hostess zingers, and fruit snacks.  I could tell her NO to all those things, but the truth is, by the time I am done at the store I could really use the cookies, donuts, and most importantly the tasty zingers! Chocolate is definitely my weakness!

So, with that said, I love my kids, and their willingness to "help".  Even though at times I feel anxious and  I feel like pulling my hair out when I leave a store, I have to say to myself, "Dear Lord, please help me get through this."  He gets me through those moments and then I feel so blessed to have Him to talk to.

Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."  Yep, that is just what I needed.  Thanks.

****On a side note - as my 9 year old is reading this, he starts to laugh at the part where I say, "I am going by myself from now on!"  Why is he laughing?  Well, let's just say he's heard me say it more than I'd like to admit!

Happy shopping and enjoy your little "helpers"!!

  2. My little "helpers" (4.5 and 3) are seriously dangerous in the aisles with their tiny carts. They run over old people and crash into the shelves and fight over who gets to put which food item in his cart. I've started going on Saturday mornings so Daddy can keep them at home and I have some hope of getting out of there in under an hour. On the other hand, I cannot wait until they're a little older and we can play the "who can find the spaghetti sauce?" game. Or, better yet "who can find the cheapest spaghetti sauce?" game (cause they'll still be shopping with me when they can do division - right?) Thanks for the post!
